Do you know how to raise a responsible adult? Have you heard of those Gen Z kids who have not left their family home and are living in their basement playing video games? We have really prayed that our kids don’t end up that way. We’d love to see them launched out, on their own, and moving out of our house. At some point, we’d love to be able to downsize because we will no longer need the space that our four kids needed.
But raising responsible adults is HARD. It is not for the faint of heart. There will be ups and there are DEFINITELY going to be downs.
I have some thoughts on what it will take to raise a responsible adult.
One of my main goals was to launch my kids as mature adults into the world. What about you?
Do you have a clear plan for launching your young adult into adulthood?
Are you unsure of where to place your focus?
Do you feel you are just running the rat race and not accomplishing the important things in your home?
Do you want to be more intentional in your parenting?
I hope to help you gain clarity and focus on how to launch your young adult out into the great big world.
For years, our family has been focused on these 5 key areas. If you can create goals and teach skill sets to your kids in these areas, you will find that you are hitting the big priorities first in your home.
I created an acronym for what to focus on: it spells CHASE.
CHASE Your Kids In This Way:
1. C is for Character – Focusing on your child’s character.
2. H is for Heart – Who has their heart?
3. A is for Academics – At a minimum, they need the basics.
4. S is for Skills – The Life Skills They Need To Know
5. E is for Experiences – Schedule Life-changing Experiences to Shape their Growth
I go through these 5 things in detail in my CHASE blog post series, as well as in a video lesson called “How To Raise Responsible Adults” at the brand-new Teach Them Diligently At Home Conference. If you join right now, you’ll get lifetime access to all the lessons on there plus access to all the recordings at 2023 TTD Greenville! An amazing deal.
Check it out!
