Hi. I love the new year! 2020 is a chance to start fresh and make good changes in our lives. After looking back at 2019, I am now ready to make goals for 2020! Some have asked me how I do my goal setting each quarter and each year.  I thought it might help to post my 2020 goals.

I divide my goals into different roles in my life. Then I evaluate each role and see what needs to be improved or changed for the new year.

Robert H. Schuller said, “Spectacular achievement is always preceded by unspectacular preparation.”   We need to spend some time preparing for the new year by doing some goal-setting so that we can then have SPECTACULAR ACHIEVEMENT!

What are the roles that you play in your life? Write down 6-8 roles and then evaluate where you need to see change in each area.

I have two main thoughts for this year:  ONE) I want to be intentional in my home and family. You will see that reflected in my goals. TWO) I have chosen a word for the year and that is STRENGTH.  I want to work on strength in my spirit, soul, and body.

Note: as far as my kids go, my oldest is turning 21 and is off on her own, so I don’t have many goals for her / our relationship, except to just be supportive of her needs and encourage her.  My second is in her senior year and although I don’t homeschool her any more (full time at Kennesaw State), she does need a lot of coaching/support as we prepare to graduate and move her off. My 3rd and 4th kids are still homeschooling and do require some work from me: some grading, coaching, helping, but they are mostly independent learners. I’ve highlighted in my goals for them ways in which I will need to be the most helpful.

Here are my roles and goals for 2020!
